Mrs. Flynn is- the hostess. A four-piece orchestra will fur nish the music. Refreshments will be on sale by the Country club tea room. Western North Carolina Mletho distis vote 402 to 22 for unification of three different branches of the Methodist church. “CURB” REPORTER Carl Goerch, noted editor of the State Mlagazine, Raleigh, was a visitor to Tryon today accompanied by John Bragaw of Washington, N. C. This is Editor Goerch’s second visit to Tryon, but each visit has lasted only a few minutes. He hasn t had any time to see much of the community. Metcalf Thursday noon in Chicago. No fur ther information is available. Mir. and Mrs. Metcalf had been in Chicago for several months on busi ness and the news was a shock to many friends in this section. Mr. Metcalf had large business interests in Chicago and was for merly head of the Metcalf Station ery Company. He and Mrs. Met calf came to this section more than twelve years ago and built a beau tiful home in Columbus. He was deeply interested in all thingis for the civic improvement of the coun ty and its people. P.T. A. Bridge-Games Party On Tuesday, 26 The Tryon Parent-Teacber asso ciation will give their annual bridge-games party at the Parish House on Tuesday evening, Oc tober 26, at 8 o’clock. Many tables have been reserved and a very delightful time is in store for all who are present. Ap proximately fifty prizes have been donated by the merchants and one will be given to each table. Those who have not reserved their tables may phone Mrs. K. A. Bowen or Mrs. E. Perry Manville for reser vations. Elected New S.-R. Head Ernest E. Norris, senior vice president, was elected president of the Southern Railway yesterday to succeed Fairfax Harrison, who has rounded out 24 years of ser vice as ch’cf executive. OCT. 22, 1937
