Howard Bissell, 59;
Dies In Buffalo, N. Y.
Howard Bissell, who had been
coining to Tryon with his family
for many years passed away on
Monday. He and Mrs. Bissell
bought property on Slkyuka creek
last minter and were coming to
Tryon this fall to plan their home.
The New York Times gives the
following account:
“Buffalo, N. Y., Oct 24.—How
ard Bissell, president of the Niag
ara National Bank of Buffalo since
1933, died tonight in MJillai'di Fill
more hospital after a week’s ill
ness. His age was 59.
“Mr. Bissell, who was president
of the New York State Bankers
Association in 1922, was formerly
president- of the Peoples Bank and
later chairman of the board of the
Manufacturers and Traders Trust
Company both of Buffalo.
“Mr. Bissell, a native of Buffalo,
was graduated from Ylhle in 1900
at once entered banking in
Buffalo. In 1930 Governor Roose
velt appointed him to the commit
tee to revise the banking laws of
the State.
“He married Dorothy Carroll
Trego of Hackensack, N. J., in
1910. There are two children.”
WOMAN'S AUXILIARY
The Woman’s Auxiliary of the
Church of the Holy Cross will
hold its regular monthly meeting
on Monday afternoon, November 1,
in the Parish House at 3:30 o’clock.
Mrs,. F. P. Bacon will talk on
Impressions of the Episcopal Gen
eral Convention held in Cincinnati
in October.

H. B. Kelly, prominent Hender
sonville banker and hotel man who
leased Oak Hall last winter will
operate it again this season. A
half-page advertisement will ap
pear in Friday’s Tryon Daily Bul
letin giving a list of the various
rates to be charged this season.
M. A. Richards, owner of the Oak
Hall, leaves today with his daugh
ter, Msss Janet Richards, for
Tucson, Arizona, where they will
spend the winter.
