Est. 1-31-28 Red Cross Annual Roll Call Begins (If the weather is bad on the eighteenth, the house-to-house visi tation will be postponed until the next day.) The Annual Roll Call of the National Red Cross takes place between Armistice Diay, Novem ber 11th, and Thanksgiving Day, November 25th. In Tryon and vicinity, the Polk County Unit will, as far as possible, complete the Roll Call in one day, namely: Thurs day, November 18th. Member berships will be Join! received at the Post Office and in Missildine’s Pharmacy, and there will also be a house-to-house visi tation. After the 18th, Miss Mar gie Clapips in Missildinefs and iMrs. George Cathey at the Blue 'Ridge Weavers, will receive dues from any who have not already, enrolled. C., FRIDAY, NOV. 12, 1937 Tryon-Saluda 27; Greenville Hi, 0 In an Armistice Day game, played in the rain, the Tryon- Saluda gridders came through with a decisive 27 to 0 victory over a scrappy Greenville team. The lo cal tqam aided by the fast and speedy running of Jones, Mc- Geachy and Eaton, and the power ful line smashes of Staton and Green kept the game well in hand. The Tryon-Saluda line gave their backfield good support. One touch down was registered in the first quarter by a steady drive with Staton going over. The extra point from placement went wide. No more scores were made until the final minute of the second quarter, when Staton faded back to the thirty-five yard line and tossed a fifty yard pass to Jones, who gathered the ball in on the fifteen yard line and easily outran the safety man to score. The extra point was made on a pass to Green by Jones. The second half seesawed back and forth until a pass was intercepted on the thirty by Staton. A series of drives netted the touchdown with Mc- Geachy carrying the ball over. A pass by Jones to Staton made the extra point. The final touchdown came after several long end runs by Eaton, McGeachy and Jones, placed the ball on the ten yard line. In two plays Green crashed tackle to score. On a reverse nlay, the tackle, Heatherly cross ed over for the extra point. The entire Tryon-Saluda team no doubt aided bv the large crowd, .. Continued on back page
