Est. 1-31-28 John Ferguson Funeral services for John R. Ferguson, well-known Tryon ar chitect, who died at his home on afternoon at 4 o’clock, will ?>e conducted this afternoon (Mon " day) in Spartanburg at the Church of the Advent, Episcopal, by the. rector, the Rev. W. H. K. Pendle ton, and the Rev. John A. Pinck ney, rector of the Church of the Holy Cross,' Tryon. Interment will follow in the church ceme tery. Mr. Ferguson had been in ill health for sometime, but his sud den death came as a shock to many friends throughout this sec tion. He was a member of the Rotary club and the Tryon Coun try club. A$ an architect, at number of outstanding buildings in this section will remain as monu ments to his work, among the latest being the Gertrude Holbrook Hardin Memorial nurses’ home at St. Luke’s hospital. T Mr. Ferguson was born in Mount -'Pleasant, S. C., in 1898, the son of the late Charles B. and Clara R. Ferguson. He attended the Charleston high school and Clem son college. After graduation from college, he entered the architectural pro fession, and was at various times located in Spartanburg, Greenville, Asheville and Tryon. In 1927, he was married to M!iss Ella T. Lindsay of Spartanburg. He is survived by his wife; two children, Wilton L. and Charlotte B. Ferguson; a sister, Mrs. John B. Barrow, of Charleston; and Continued on Back Page TRYON, N. C., MONDAY, DEC. 13, 1937 Hunting Season To Open on Wednesday On Wednesday, Dec. 15, the Hunting Season for 1937-38 opens officially in Tryon. Hounds will leave the kennels at Galax Stables three times each week until April 20. A number of miles of new country has been opened in the Hunting section and we are look ing forward to a very active sea son. On each Saturday the hunt ing dates for the following two weeks will be published in the Tryon Daily Bulletin. The first schedule is as follows: Dec. 15— Hounds leave kennels at 2:30, meet ing at J. H. Perkins cotton patch; Dec. 18—leave kennels at 10:30’ a. m., meeting at LeMort place; Dec. 20—leave at 10:30, meetings at Covered Bridge; Dec. 22—leaving at 2:30, meeting at Tower Hill; Dec. 25—leaving at 10:30, meeting at Many Levels. —M. B. Flynn, Sec’y. Scout Meeting The Tryon Boy Scouts will meet tonight at the school. A feature of the meeting will be a talk on Citizenship by Attorney M. R. Mc- Cown. A number of boys are working for promotion at the Court of Honor to be held on Sat urday night -at the Parish House. Masons Meet Tonight Jeff L. Nelson Masonic Lodge No. 605 will meet tonight for regu lar communication and annual election of officers. All Masons urged to attend.
