Est. 1-31-28 World Scout Leader To Address Annual Boy Scout Meeting DR. LORNE W. BARCLAY Gastonia, Jan. 12.—Dr. Lome W. Barclay, National Director of Camping and activities of the Boy Scouts of America, a world leader in the program of the Boy Scouts, will address the 300 or more Scout leaders of the Piedmont Council, Boy Scouts of America, who will gather at the Young People’s building of the Main Street M. E. church on Tuesday night, January 18th, ,at 7:00 o’clock on the oc casion of the 14th annual meeting of the organization. TRYON, N C., FRIDAY, JAN. 14, 1938 “CURB” REPORTER Last week’s Polk County News had the chronology of 1937 for the entire world. The News has a lot of interesting information every week for people who don’t get other papers and for those who don’t have time to read the ones they get .... Nearly two columns of Tryon school news is published in this week’s issue of the News. In it we see where the following chanel program was to be rendered today by the Fifth grade: Song. “Onward, Clmstian Soldiers” Bible reading, fifteenth chapter of Proverbs by C. G. Carson; “Around the Clock with Sally Sue.” A good citizenship and health play. The characters, Sally Sue, Caroline Speigle; Mother Margaret Burns; Twelve Elves, Phil Morris, Brock Henry, Bobby Gosnell. Keith But ler, Mary Sue Parris, Rebecca Lee, Ruth Butler, Ruby Burrell, Kath leen Alewine, Marie Arledge, Ju lius Earle Brock, Bill Camp . . . . The New York Times of Sunday, January 9th, had an eight inch story about the esquestrian snorts a T>yon date line, too, and didn’t a Tryon date line, too, and din’t give the effect of coming from Asheville as most of the articles or. ig ; natinn- from.
