ENTERED 4S LLCCN D-CLASS MATTER AUGUST 20, 1928, AT THE POST OFFICE AT TRYON, N. C., UNDER THE ACT OF CONGRESS, MARCH 8, 1879 (Ltrymi Batly JHulkiui (The World’s Smallest Daily Newspaper) Vol. 10. Est. 1-31-28 From China Rev. and Mirs. Rolla Dyer have the following letter from their son, Rev. Edward Dyer, who is an Episcopal missionary in China. Mr. Dyer was here four years ago: Shanghai, China Dec. 26, 1937. Dear Father and Mother: I sent a letter off to you via Hongkong and Manila and the Clipper across the Pacific some time ago (it never reached Tryon) and now I think I’ll try another note and send it that way if I can find a thin envelope around the place. I am getting on nicely here. The seat of war is now two hundred miles from here at its nearest point or even further and unlikely to get an inch nearer. No travel s yet permitted by our friends the way, so I can’t go back to our town yet. I am still at the Norton’s who are great friends of mine. In 1927 during the great Chinese roughhouse we stayed with them and now during the 1937 rough house I am doing it again. I shall not go back to Wusih this time until I get a pass from the people who are in actual con trol of the country. Much love, Edward. Payne and Turner arraigned in Penn murder.
