Est. 1-31-28 TRYON. N C., THURSDAY, JAN. 27, 1938 An Alderman Again C. J. Lynch M r R. McCown returned Wednesday from Colum- S. C., where they were guests the City of Columbia at a meet- and banquet of all living for mer aldermen of Columbia from 1888 to lEflO. Columbia now has a a commission form of government. Mr. Lynch was a former alderman and on Tuesday helped conduct a mock council meeting which “oust ed” the commissioners and passed some laws of their own. After the meeting was over the alumni aldermen reinstated the commis sioners. Columbia newspapers car ried pictures of the affair and the City plans to make it an an nual event. Play Postponed The Garden club play, “Royal \yhims” has been postponed to land Saturday, Feb. 4, 5. Rotary Friday R. C. Burnette will be in charge of the Rotary club program on Friday at Oak Hall hotel at 1 p. m. Ralph- Erskine will be the guest speaker. Basketball Friday The Tryon high school boys and girls will meet the strong Central high school teams of Rutherford ton on Friday night at the Tryon gymnasium. TYMA BOWLING LEAGUE The TYMA Bowling league an nounces the following teams, or ganized by Maurice B. Flynn, di rected by M. B. Flynn, team names by Lefty Flynn. Members attention! The Burpers: Geo. Ward, Joe Troy, A1 Bowen. The Broccoli Kids: Holland Buady, captain; H. L. Arledge, Jim Brownlee, Fred Swann. The Dough Boys: Carroll Rogers, captain; Tom Costa, Pickens Bacon, Julian Hester. The “New Dealers”: C. H. Con rad, captain; Russell Walcott, Ma jor Sharp, Sam Bingham, Sr. , The Holy Rollers: Ben White, captain, N. R. Rector, Sr., Doc Slack, Lotan Pace. The Four Molars: J. E. Derby, captain; Broadus Ballenger, Char lie Lynch, Garter Brown. Extras to be called by captains when team members cannot come: Nelson Jackson, Jr., E. E. Missil dine, Seth M. Vining, Cephas Owens Ed Lankford, Ellis Kuy kendall. The League starts playing Mon day night with the Burpers play ing the Four Molars. Watch the 'Bulletin for schedule next week. The Young Men’s Association will have its regular weekly party on Friday night with games, coffee and doughnuts.
