Better Schools Supt. P. S. White of Columbus was the guest speaker at the Tryon Kiwanis dub on Tuesday at 1 p. m., and told of efforts to provide manual training, business, agri cultural, and home economics courses in the schools of the county in order to train all students to be uceful according to their tal ents. He exhibited several pictures painted by a high school girl after a few lessons illustrating the tal ent among our young people await ing to be developed with proper guidance. He invited all interested to visit the manual training school at Mill Spring which opened this past month. It is in session, Mon days, Wednesdays and Fridays, afternoons. Joe E. Troy had charge of the program. Magnolia Gardens Mrs. George Miller nas received word from Mr. Norwood Hastie that the "Camellias in Mlagnolia Gardens, Charleston, would be at their peak from February 15th to March Ist. The Azaleas probably April sth to 18th. Mrs. M}iry S. Deanmead of West Liberty, Ohio, .and Miss Eliza beth Gray Register of Germantown, Pa., are guests at Circle Inn. Mrs. F. Woodruff and Miss A. Woodruff of Grosse Pointe, Mich., are guests at Oak Hall hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Orrrnnd of Cclumbuis are the parents of a daughter born this morning about six o’clock, at St. Luke’s hospital. Pope Norris Simmons of Charles ton, S. C., is visiting his sister, Mrs. 0. V. Johnson, in the Valley.
