Scout Services Sunday
All citizens of Polk county are
invited to attend church Sunday
afternoon at 5 o’clock at the Church
fcf the Holy Cross (Episcopal)
a special Boy Scout service
will be conducted as part of a
National program. Dr. George
Farrand Taylor, Polk County Boy
Scout Commissioner, will preach
the special sermon. Other minis
ters in the community will take
part in the service. All adults and
especially those interested in the
development of character in young
people are urged to attend.
The pupils of Mrs. Walter Jones
will give a private piano recital
this afternoon at her home on
Laurel avenue. The pupils are

$95 for Chinese
Treasurer J. B. Hester of the
Polk County Red Cross Chapter
stated this morning that he had
deposited $95 for the relief of the
Chinese sufferers. Anyone desir
ing to aid this cause may leave
their donations at the Tryon Bank
& Trust Co., or mail'to Mr. Hester.
