Est. 1-31-28 Aiken Pictures Have Arrived for Preview On Next Tuesday k The beautiful paintings of " Charles A. Aiken, have arrived at the Rock House Art Gallery and are being unpacked for the preview on Tuesday, March 15, at which time those receiving invitations may see the pictures before the public showing the following day. The Gallery will be open to the public from March 16 to April 2. Mr. Aiken maintained a studio in or near Boston until 1921, when he came to New York, where he has worked since. He has exhibit ed in all important American ex hibitions in oil and watercolor. and has shown by invitation in the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, the Art In stitute of Chicago, the Boston So ciety of Water Color Painters, the Boston Art. club, the Brooklyn Museum and the Fine Arts Gal . lery of San Diego. 9 ++ Margaret F. Ford Miss Margaret F. Ford of Charles, S. C., died in Tryon this morning in her 102nd year. The body will be taken to Charleston, S. C., on Saturday and funeral services will be held at Connally’s Chapel, Charleston, on Sunday, March 13. Miss Ford had made her home in Tryon for sometime and nassed her 101st birthday here on December sth. She was born in 1836 near Georgetown, S. C., and was a member of a prominent South Carolina family, the daugh ter of Stephen and Jane Thurston Ford. TRYON, N C., FRIDAY. A large number of prizes are offered. TT Executive Democrats Met On Thursday The Polk County Democratic. Ex ecutive Committee met on Thursday afternoon in Columbus at 3 o’clock and passed a resolution to request all Democratic candidates to refrain from using the absentee ballot in the coming primary. They also recommended Ernest Thompson of Saluda and Henry Thompson of Mill Spring for appointment to the County Election Board. tf Mrs. Sidney Lanier to Speak on Wednesday At the next Lanier club tea, on Wednesday, March 16th, Mrs. ! f ; idney Lanier, daughter-in-law of the poet, will give an informal talk comprising impressions of old Try on and of the great poet. Tea will be served at 4 o’clock and the talk will follow at 4:45.
