Est. 1-31-28 Furman McClure The body of Furman McClure, who died Friday morning will be at the home in Tryon until S'un .4o* day afternoon. Funeral services \ ~ v will be held at Fairview Baptist church. Court of Honor On Monday The Polk County Boy Scout Court of Honor will be held on Monday evening at 7:30 at the Parish House, with the Chairman, Dr. C. Arthur Lincoln, presiding, assisted by Scout Executive R. M. Schiele of Gastonia. Scoutmaster W. A. Schilletter has a number of Scouts of Troop No. 1 to pre sent for advancement. Scoutmaster Zeno Green of Saluda and Scout master L. R. Wells are also ex pected to have some boys up for promotion. ■ —t r i£)J. O. U. A. M. All members of the Junior Order r re requested to attend the funeral of Furman McClure on Sunday, farch 20th, at 3 p. m. T • Perkins Horses Here Two hunter horses of James H. Perkins arrived in Tryon early *:his morning for the Perkins new stable which is nearing completion n the Hunting Country. A break ing cart and other equipment also came in. The Perkins tenant house bas been completed. Mr. and Mrs. jPerkins will arrive from Green wich, Conn., next week and will occupy a Pine Crest Inn cottage. TRYON, N C.. Missildine Issues Proclamation On Hospital Week Among the institutions and or ganizations which benefit the citi zens of Tryon and Polk county, St. Luke’s hospital has a unique claim upon their esteem and support. Its service to the community is recog rized by the Duke Foundation and by the county, both of which ap r repriate funds toward its main tenance. Its facilities are increas ingly appreciated by those who are rble to pay for their care, but more than half of the patients it re ceives are able to return little but gratitude. Accidents, illness which cannot properly be cared for at home, childbirth, and the need for minor and major surgical operations oc cur in'the families of the rich and the poor, to citizens, sojourners and strangers. The doors of St. Luke’s hospital are always open to all. To maintain the hospital for the current year, something more than i 6,000 will be required, in addition io the sources of income which have been indicated. During the week commencing March 21st St. Luke’s Hospital Association will call upon the citizens of Tryon and Polk "ounty to contribute toward this f mount. NOW, therefore, I, E. E. Missildine, Mayor of Tryon, do hereby designate the week of March 21st as Hospital Week, and com mend to all citizens of Tryon the duty and privilege of supporting St. Luke’s hospital. E. E.
