Est. 1-31-28 Thirty Players In Golf Tournament Eighteen men and twelve women 'took part in the Tryon Country club flag tournament last week end. Mrs. L. F. Brigham was first in the women’s division fol lowed closely by Mrs. Baxter Haynes. Both players ended up on the 10th fairway in the nine hole competition. In the men's division Baxter Haynes won first place end ing upon the 20th fairway in the 1.8 hole competition. C. H. Helms was in second place ending upon the 19th green. Those taking part in the ladies’ flag tournament were Miss Mary Crapo, Mrs. Baxter Haynes, Miss Hope Washburn, Mrs. Wm. Conant, Miss. M. B. Flynn, Miss Isabel DuCharme, Mrs. Bryant W. TRYON, N C., MONDAY, MARCH 21, 1938 Kiwanis Tuesday Miss Rebecca Hoskins, county superintendent of public welfare will address the Trvon Kiwanis club on Tuesday at 1 p. m., and will discuss the various phases of her work. TT Parish House Tonight The Polk County Boy Scout Court of Honor will be held to night at the Parish House begin ning at 7:30 o’clock with the Court Chairman Dr. C. Arthur Lincoln presiding, assisted by Scout Ex ecutive R. M. Schiele of Gastonia. The public is invited. The pro gram will not be long. Visitors will not have to stay for both courts. Any of the visitors in the hotels desiring to see the col ored boys undergo the tests for Scout promotion may come in at 8 o’clock instead of 8:30. TT Leg Broken Paul Ritchie, 27, of Columbus, is in St. Luke’s hospital with a broken leg as the result of in juries received in an auto accident on Saturday evening. ft Asheville Police Try To Identify Man Found Dead Asheville, N. C., March 20. Officers sought today to establish the identity of a well-dressed man whose body was found in a laurel thicket within 200 yards of Beaver Lake clubhouse yesterday. The man apparently had been dead for about two weeks. No marks of violence were found on the body.
