Mr. Clarence Smith on Saturday,
April 2nd, at Newport, Tenn. The
bride is a graduate of Tryon high

lege. The groom is a son of Mr. i

!skus. The young couple will make ;
home in Columbus for the
present.
Rediscovering The
Old South
J. G. de Roulhac Hamilton, for- ,
mer dean of history at the Uni
versity of North Carolina and who
is now engaged in research work
for the University Library, look
ing up old records and historical
places, will be the guest speaker
at the Lanier club on Thursday.
April 7th. at 3:30 o’clock. He will
discuss some interesting phases of
his work of “Rediscovering the Old
South’”. The public is invited to
hear Dean Hamilton and to meet
him at tea following the lecture. .
Buckner-Dedmondt
Mr. Robert Walter Dedmondt of
Columbus and Miss Iris Buckner
of Waynesville were married on
Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o’clock
at the Columbus Presbyterian
church in the presence of rela
tives and close friends. The pas
tor, Rev. D. M. MeGeachy. per
formed the beautiful ring cere
mony. The young couple will make
their home in Columbus. The
groom, who i s the son of Mr. and
Mrs. George Dedmondt, is the local
manager of the Kalmia Dairy. The
bride is a daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Leo Buckner of Waynesville.
Upton-Gilreath
Miss Caroline Upton of Tryon
and Mr. Drayton Gilreath of
Saluda were married this morning
in Hendersonville at the Cour 1
House by Dr. Brooks. The groom
is a WPA teacher of adults. The
bride i s a daughter of Mr. Edgar
Upton of Tryon. Mr. and Mrs.
Gilreath will make their home in
Saluda.
