S N., retired will speak at the Tryon r ’’'Rotary club on Friday at 1 p. m., Oak Hall hotel. He will talk aoout some of the interesting points on our naval defense program. Major Allen Jones Jervey, M. D.. U. S A., retired, will be in charge of the program. Up On the Farm Mr. and Mrs. John Paul Lucas of Charlotte were visitors in Try on Wednesday. Mr. Lucas, who is general sales director of the Duke Power Co., attended a con ference with County Agent J. A. Wilson of Columbus, Ml. T. Ged dings of Spartanburg. Duke Power Co.. Agricultural instructor and Manager K. A. Bowen of the Try on branch. Mr. Geddings will be available to all farmers in Polk bounty needing advice or assis- with their farm electrical problems. Just as Mr. Wilson helps farmers with raising their crops, etc. Mr. Geddings will give them advice on how to plan their farm electric cequjpment. Great progress has been made by farm ers in using electrically heated plant beds, chicken brooders, wat er systems, churns and many other things that have made farm life more attractive. The com forts and conveniences of elec tricity are bringing mor? people back to the farm for a more wholesome life according to officials at the conference. TRYON, N C., THURSDAY, APRIL 21, 1938 MOTHERS! What are you going to do for your 9. 10, 11, year-old boys this summer? Do you know anything about Cubs, an organization plan ned to interest young boys in worthwhile things such as handi craft and the arts, as well as wholesome outdoor activities and games. Cubbing is supervised by the mothers with the assistance of Boy Scout leaders. Senator F. P. Bacon is heading the movement for the organization in Tryon. If you are interested in having your boy get the advantages offered bv Cubbing come to the Tryon school house on Saturday evening at 7:30 Scout Executive R. M. Schiele will be present to explain the work. If you are in terested in your own boy’s develop ment you can’t afford to stay away. Everybody in Polk county is invited to the meeting. Flower Show Next Week The Tryon Garden club has com pleted its plans for the annual flower show which will be held next week on Friday, April 29 at the Parish House. The pre mium list will be printed in Fri day’s Bulletin. All members are requested to save their copies as there will not be any more print ed. Any member desiring ex tra copies should telephone the editor tonight or the Bulletin early Friday morning. The tulips are all gone and will not be en tered in the show as nreviously announced. In their place have been substituted peonies This class, No. 3, is in charge of Mrs. Raymond Dodge.
