Making ends meet is the prob
lem of every organization, business
man or housewife in Tryon, and
an interesting one it is. Each
one must solve it in his own way,
but we are all concerned in the
way our public institutions meet
the situation. Here is a brief
summary of how one such insti
tution has fared in this “reces
sion" year. Please analyse the

This dificit was met by dipping
into the Lanier club “nest-egg",
the little balance left from Lady
Astor’s donation last year. So the
library owes no debts, but—hav
ing made ends meet, where do we
get the SSOO necessary to put a
new roof on top? Some donations
I j have already been sent to the
treasurer, Mrs. Bernard Sharp, to
ward the needed repairs on the li
brary building, and we hope that
all those who realize the value of

the Lanier library will follow suit
if possible.
