Boynton, who came to Tryon this week to bury her mother, Mrs. Williams, is a radio writer of dramatic programs for the National Broadcasting Co., and her programs are presented on Sunday afternoons at 4 o’clock on the “There Was A Woman” skit .... The Landrum, S. C.. Juniors and Seniors held their banquet at Stannydale Tuesday night . . . Editor Blackburn Johnson of the Farmers Federa tion News was a visitor to Polk Wednesday. He and Here ’N’ Yonder Johnson carried the “Curb” Reporter to the home of Fiddlin’ John Weaver in Green Creek sec tion. Editor Johnson took a pic ture of Mr. Weaver for publicity connection with Mr. Weaver’s " trip this week to Washington, D. C., where he will appear twice on the program of the National Folk Festival on Sunday, May Bth. In the morning he will play “Cacklin’ Hen” on his violin and in the. evening will render '“The Fox Chase.” 500 contestants from 29 states will be on the three-day program. Mir. Honor Students At Tryon High Tryon high school has announced its honor graduates for the four year period. Ruth McFarland is the Valedictorian. For second honors. Lula Burrell and Henry McGeachy are tied. The Valedictorian is the daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. F. K. Mc- Farland. For the past eleven years she has attended the Tryon public school. She has been very active in her school life. She is the vice-president of the Senior class, president of the Tennis club, presi dent of the Beta club, and chair man of the high school Entertain ment committee. Lula Burrell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Burrell, has also attended the Tryon public school for the past eleven years. She has been particularly active in the Literary society, having serv ed as vice-president, critic, and chairman of the Program commit tee. Henry McGeachy, son of Rev. and Mrs. D. M. McGeachy enter ed the Tryon school in the Third grade from the Whiteville. N. C., schools. He is president of the Senior class, and has held the fol lowing offices: President of the Junior class, president of the Dance club, secretary of the Literary society, secretary of the Beta club. For three years he has been a member of both the football and track teams, and also a school news reporter.
