Miss Mamie Thompson of Tryon jas received news of her brother, "Regan Thompson, of Saluda, who was a guest in the Atlanta Ter minal Hotel at the time of the horrible fire when a large number of people were burned to death. Mr. Thompson saved himself by jumping out of a window and af terwards went back into the build ing by climbing a ladder and res cued a child. Masons Meet Monday The Jeff L. Nelson Masonic Lodge, No. 605, will meet Mon day night at the lodge hall in Tryon. All visiting Masons wel come. Train Change Soon Agent T. G. Miller states that Ihe Southern Railway Passenger -"Train No. 9 now coming up from Spartanburg at 11:14, will be changed on Sunday, May 29. A new schedule will bring it into Tryon nearly two hours earlier at 9:22 a. m. This will be the summer schedule. Register Today Today is the last day before the June Primary to register t 0 vote. The place is the old Town Hall on Maple street. The Registrar is Jesse Rhodes. If you have become 21 since the last election or have moved ( here and want to become a citizen now is the time to register. Baseball Today The Tryon Baseball team will play the strong Enka team this afternoon at 4 o’clock at Harmon Field in the third home game of the Western North Carolina In dustrial League contests. Tryon has won both home games and expects to take the third this af ternoon. Every rooting fan helps to fire the home boys with the spirit of victory. Kiwanis Tuesday Tryon Kiwanis club will meet on Tuesday at 1 p. m., at Hotel Tryon. C. J. Lynch will be in charge of the program. ERSKINE SOCIETY REGULAR MEETING The regular meeting of the Women’s society of the Erskine Memorial church will be held on Tuesday, the twenty-fourth, at C e home of Miss Susan Harper. The subject will be “Education In Rural America—Two Pictures—” * The special offering for the day will be given to the Girl Scouts. There are five girls in Tryon who want to become members but can not afford to pay the fees. Come prepared to help when Mrs. Brundage tells about the special need.
