You see if I never made any errors the printers wouldn’t be trying to correct my copy. One of my weak nesses is to write (“gold”) every time I want to say (“golf”) and sometimes (“thing”) a (“think”) . . . . Henderson county is going to celebrate its 100th birthday this month .... Tax collector W. C. Hague is urging the people to pay their taxes before the first Mon day in August in order to save penalty and cost of advertising. .... Alf Landon speaking at an lowa Republican meeting yesterday said that he believed in Roosevelt’s aims but not in his works .... Le- Gette Blythe in the Charlotte Observer gaid today: “Democracy in America may be on the way out. But it won’t be because of German bayonets or Italian bombs or Japanese battleships. Continued on back page Gowar \ Jle Girl Dies In Greenville Hospital Emily Wright, 12 year old daughter of Mrs. Annie Wright, of Gowansville upper Greenville county, died at the General hos pital at Greenville early Wednes day morning after an illness of nearly three months. The deceas ed was a member of the Gowans-. ville Baptist church and a student of the Gowansville graded school. Besides her mother she is survived by one brother, Arthur Wright, one half-brother, Earle Rainwater, i sister, Mrs. Clayton Pace, all of Landrum route 2. Also one ister, Mrs. Ed. Searcy, of Polk ounty. Funeral services will be held at the Fairview Baptist church at 1 o’clock (today) Thursday with pastor, Rev. T. E. Reid, in charge, assisted by the Rev. Dr. E. L Bomar of Landrum. JBurial will ollow in the church cemetery.
