Est. 1-31-28 TRYON, N, C., WED, SLY 27, 1938 Golf Contest Here On Thursday The Forest City golf team of a dozen or more players will oppose a Tryon team on Thursday at the Tryon Country club. And on Saturday and Sunday local golfers will participate in a kickers handicap tournament. Orphans Entertaining The Oxford Orphans Singing Class gave a very entertaining program of dancing, songs and music on Tuesday night at the Tryon school auditorium before a large appreciative audience. The Mlasons of Polk county joined the Masons all over the state in spon soring this delightful program which does so much to help the children and at the same time give the public its money’s worth in enjoyment. Boys’ Club (Bv David Cromer) We had a perfect attendance this morning. In athletic compe tition Group One were victors in ping pong and in horse shoe pitching; Group Two won in the sack and relay races. In volleyball Groups Three. Four and Five were •winners. On Thursday we go swimming at the Tryon Country club, leaving from the school. Fri day morning is our “commence ment” finals and we again invite the public to attend this short service and see our work displayed. “CURB” REPORTER Tryonites are happy travellers and every day brings messages from friends all over the world. Card from Eleanor Richards in Paris : “Having a good time and having for Germany.” . . . Here’s one today from the Frank Cran dalls in Jerusalem. They write, “All kinds of excitement here. Tourists annoyed by British sol diers. Most interesting, beauti ful.” . . . No message from Bill Weigel since he landed in Africa. . . . Harkness Smith leaves Fri day for Mexico, Cuba, England, Belgium and Holland .... Lincoln Brigham writes from Connecticut that they are on the mdve so much we’ll have to hold the Bulletins back awhile . . . The Lefty Flynns are having their Bulletins forward ed to them in New England . . . Sam Bingham, Jr., has a card from father and mother who are motoring in Holland .... The Walter Howells writing from Boothbay, Maine, say: “You are always interested in hearing of Tryon reunions, so thought you might like to know of a picnic that the Parmelees, Dr. Stewall, Howells and Harry Fosdicks held last week. The common concen sus of opinion was that even in Maine, we could not exist without the Daily Bulletin. We are send ing you herewith an order for ten barrels of Tryon sunshine and six teen hogsheads of warm water Continued on back page
