Est. 1-31-28 At San Francisco An interesting account of his visit to San Francisco to the Ro tary International convention as a delegate was given to the Tryon Rotary club on Friday at 1 p. m., at Sunny dale by Nelson Jackson, Jr., who represented the Tryon club. Mk\ J ackson spoke of the various conferences and inspiring speeches and contacts made at the convention which showed the great work Rotary is doing toward world peace and a better understanding and appreciation of the good in all peoples and races. Prominent Rotarians from all over the world told of the work Rotary clubs are doing for the needy, the crippled, the underprivileged, and the pro motion of worthwhile community projects, the Boy Scouts, 4-H clubs for boys and girls and hundreds of other activities that show the spirit of service in Rotary. Mr. Jackson led a group on an inter esting tour of Chinatown which was thronged with customers while the Japanese sections were boy cotted because of the war. He told of a five minute talk with the Rotary International president who is a prominent Frenchman, speaks seven languages and v ad visited many countries in the interest of Rotary and international good wiV. 12,000 Rotary delegates and their families had a great time and they were more than ever sold on the fact that Rotary is a goed thing for the member, the community and the world. Panther of Try on ,who preceded her to the grave 24 years ago, died Friday night at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. M, Williams at No. I Groce Road, Lyman, S. C., after an ill ness of several months. Funeral services will be held at, 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the Lynn Baptist church, with the Rev. A. H. Wilson of Lyman Baptist church officiating, assisted by Rev. B. G. Henry of the Lynn church. Active pallbearers will be Ralph Cantrell, Wallace Cantrell, Billy Cantrell, Neal Cantrell of Spar tanburg, S. C.; Ray Panther of Forest City; G. B. Panther, Jr., of Columbus. Flower girls: Margaret Wil l;ams, Lyman, S. C.; Mrs. Thomas Dixon, Spartanburg; Miss Helen Panther, Columbus; Mrs. Roy Reynolds, Atlanta, Ga. Honorary pallbear'ers will be: Dr. M l , C. Palmer, Dr. A. J. Jervey, Dr. Earle Grady, W. Y. Wilkins, Hinton Thompson, Walter Mize, W. W. Ballard, Charlie Edwards, Jr., Lewis Denton, Carl Storey, W. S. McCall, Will Newman, Zeb Earley, Riley Henson, Walter Green, Mallie Thompson, Walter Arledge, Odell Cochran, Robert F. MjcFarland, Monte Dedman, Allen Storey, Charlie Foster and W. W. Capps. The deceased had made her home in Tryon all her life until three years ago and was greatly beloved here by many friends for her noble Christian character.
