ENTERED AS SECOND-CLASS MATTER AUGUST 20, 1928, AT THE POST OFFICE AT TRYON, N. Dear Seth: Today marks the |:rand finale of a week's celebration of the fortieth of the ascension of .-Queen Wilhelmina to the throne of the Netherlands. Your correspondent arrived in Roterdam yesterday at noon, hav ing flown the 333 kilometers from London in 80 minutes. The plane, a dual motored Douglas, was as steady as a steamer, and the en gine noise was practically negli gible. Going aboard ship at Roterdam I found that this wild celebration had caused a holiday to be de clared for today, Tuesday, so the ship will get away two days be hind her schedule. Since I could not sail, nor re main aboard, I came immediately to the Hague, where I now am. The quaint little city is dressed up to the queen’s taste with gay orange bunting, with banners and and with pictures of beloved Wilhelmina everywhere. This morning she, the queen, went early to Amsterdam, where the prime minister made a most gracefuf speech at ten o’clock. The shore resort of the Hague is Scheveningen. It is represented as of 50 years ago in a wonderfully life-like panorama painting, which I saw this morning at the Hague. C., SATURDAY, SEPT. 17, 1938 Country Day School To Open Soon * The Tryon Country Day School will open its fourth year on Mon day, October 3rd, on the same location which it has occupied for the past two ears, i. e. on the grounds of the Mimosa Hotel. It is, however, well isolated from the hotel, in a beautiful, secluded spot. A new furnace has been installed with pipes circulating to all parts of the house, thus assuring an evenly distributed, adequate heat and ventilation. At the request of some of the patrons, there will be a group of pre-school children, attending from 9:00 to 12:00, carrying a program of their own which includes a mid-morning rest and lunch period, free play under supervision and those constructive activities which are appropriate to their age and development. This group will be under the care of Mrs. Brundage who will give full time to them, with the exception of those hours in which she carries on her art instruction with the older chil dren, at which time she will be relieved by another teacher. The school opens this year with a good-sized group and has the positive assurance of others to come later. Any who wish to enter their children in any department of the school, will kindly get in touch with Mliss Washburn, telephone 209-J or MHss Poppe, telephone 5-W. It will be appreciated if these applications are made at the earliest possible moment, in order to facilitate the arrangement of the school’s plans. Per Copy lc
