C-, TUESDAY, SEPT. 20, 1938 Explosion Rocks “Wagon Wheel” Tryon Fire Department was called out this morning about 4:30 o’clock to the “Wagon Wheel” sandwich shop in the Valley Some body had put a stick of dvnamite in or under manager Hopkins’ car near the “Wagon Wheel”. The car was completely demolished and a small fire developed but was scon extinguished. No reason for causing the explosion is known. Officers are working on the case. Mr. Hopkins, the owner of the car and manager of the “Wagon Wheel” came from Spartanburg several months ago. TRYON P.-T. A. HELD SEPTEMBER MEET MONDAY The Tryon Parent-Teacher Asso ciation held its September meeting on Monday afternoon at the school auditorium with the president, Mrs. E. E. Missildine, presiding. Miss Irene Clark, the County Nurse, gave a very interesting talk on ‘‘Keeping the Well Child Well ” Mr. B. A. Buff, County Sanitarian, told briefly the sani tary conditions in the county and said Tryon school was the cleanest and most sanitary he had visited. The president announced that an informal reception for the Tryon teachers would be given at Sunny dale on this coming Thursday from 4:30 to 6:00 o’clock. All the people in Tryon are invited to come. Forty-two members joined the P._T. A. and paid their $1 dues at the meeting. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs. W. A. Stehilletter. Mrs. J. E. Derby, Mrs. C. H. Helms and Mrs. Morgan Morris.
