Disaster Relief
The devastating hurricane with
flood conditions which visited the
northeastern section of our coun
try this last week has brought
widespread suffering and great loss
of property and life. Some 10,-
000 families are out of their homes.
The national organization of the
American Red Cross is at work
relieving distress but its survey of
help required from the country at
large is not yet completed and no
quota has yet been assigned to local
chapters. It is evident, however,
that substantial assistance must be
given; and the Polk County Chap
ter of the American Red Cross
has been authorized by national
headquarters to receive contribu
tions for disaster relief. Persons
of the stricken can
do little in Personal relief of
suffering but they can give .money
to help feed, clothe and house
people made destitute by tragic
events. All contributions should
be made through Mr. J. B. Hes
ter, treasurer of the Polk County
Chapter of the American Red
Cross.
Baptist Revival
Revival services are being held
this week at the Tryon Second
Baptist church conducted by the
Rev. Mr. Dobbins of Gaffney, as
sisted by the pastor, Mr. Ballew.
Public invited.
Revealing!

My knee-deep meditation:
I’m studying the Radio News
Along with REVELATION.
And I can sympathize with Noah,
And with all homeless nations.
To Hell with War! —the proper
place
For greed-born aberrations!
