Est. 1-31-28 Car Wrecked; Two Injured Near Vaughn’s Creek A Ford coupe, reportedly the property of a Mr. MlacMichael, of State Highway Department’s y engineers in charge of the new Pacoiet River bridge construction in the Valley, and driven by Wes Gosnell of Tryon, left the highway on the sharp curve just outside the . city limits of Tryon, crashed against the guard fence, somer saulted over the fill and landed bottom up on the bank of the creek. The impact of the car was so great that a poplar tree at least six inches in diameter, was snapped off approximately 16 feet from the ground when the car smashed into it- Gosnell, and one of the two * girls with him at the time of the wreck, received minor cuts and bruises. The car was demolish ed.- Hendersonville Kiwanis Here On Tuesday The Hendersonville Kiwanis club will come to Tryon on Tues day to put on the program at a ioint meeting of the Tryon and Hendersonville clubs at 1 p. m., at Hotel Tryon. Phelps of Pen Argyle, Pa When Johnny Van Der Meer visited the Farm School of Asheville several weeks ago and gave some baseball dem onstrations, John Lewis Thompson, Tryon student, stepped into the picture, too, when the photograph er came around Mrs. Fred Gignoux arrived Saturday and is one of the first to occupy the new Crandall apartments. She is busy working on designs for her Christ mas card block printing which was so popular last season . . . Thomas L. Elder, the New York rare coin collector, who spends many of his winters in Tryon wrote the Rev. Rolla Dyer that he had just bought seven ancient Shmerian tablets, over 4.000 years old.
