CURB REPORTER Dr. Earl Grady of Tryon is scheduled to read a medical paper at a dinner meeting of the Ther mal Belt Medical society at Shel by on October 27th .... We had some rain last night, first this month. Dust all settled and the sun is shining again. Nice to have rain that way when we can get what we need without interfering with what we want in the day time The marquee or what - ever you call it that is suspended over the sidewalk in front of big city theatres, was erected yester day in front of Tryon’s new thea tre, and neon lights for advertising the current pictures are being tested. The interior of the thea •tre is gradually taking shape with (the addition of the plaster. It looks good. The ceiling is shaped like a shoe sole or ballon, wide in the middle and narrowing at each end. Theatre officials say there will not be any increase in price for regular admissions. The first floor will seat 406 people and the balcony 115 and the seats will be upholstered on rows wide apart for added comfort. I can hardly wait! .... In commenting upon the 1939 Chevrolet sales slogan which reads “Only Chevrolet Gives. JSjjt Much For So Little,” Claude "0. Smith, manager of the local Chevrolet Company, remarked, “Car buyers everywhere are going to get a real surprise when they see this- new Chevrolet. Chevrolet is offering an Continued on Bark Page Harrison J. Barrett News has been received in Try on-of the death on Thursday morn ing of Prof. Harrison J. Barrett of Cambridge, Mass. Professor Barrett, a prominent Boston law yer and professor in the Boston Law School was one of Tryon’s first attorneys and made his home here for man v years. He was a former superintendent of the Con gregational Sunday School and ac tive in all civic affairs. His wife, who died some years ago, was the former Miss Myra Whitney, mem ber of a pioneer family of Tryon and for whom Whitney Avenue on Godshaw Hill was named. Mir. Barrett was deeply interested in Tryon and as a lawyer had traced man v deeds and historical' papers back to colonial times. Death came yesterday morning at a Bos ton hospital where he had been for a short time. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. James Dunn of Boston and Mrs. Thomp son of California.-
