Est. 1-31-28 Harry Emerson Fosdiek, who has a number of friends in Tryon and who came here to rest a few years ago is quoted today as say ing: “Hating people is like burn ing down your house to get rid of a rat.” .... John Gibson, an other barber with a unique per sonality has come over to Trvon from Columbus. Dr. C. V. Tilley, the interesting, friendly pastor oi the Columbus Baptist church went in to see John one day and look ing him right in the eye said: “You are a pogonologist.” Look ing back with puzzled eyes, John said, “Now, I don’t know whether to feel complimented or to hit you.” You see John was born in Tennes- Major Sharp’s home state, and *l)ad been in the business of pogo notomy (barber business) for many years and had had some men in his barber chair with pogoniasis (ex cessive growth of beard ) but he didn't know it by the Greek name Dr. Tilley called it ... . The Rev. Charles MeGavem, the new Epis copal rector, has moved to Auberge, the new, Crandall apartments. Auberge is French and is pronounc ed O-bearge, with the accent on the bear, and means a mountain inn. The new minister is on the right side, second floor, apartment 7 Ann Chapman, two-year old, begged so much to ride on th& bus that her mother, (Mrs. Demus Chapman) carried her to Hender sonville and back the other day. GGG Men Hunting For Reuben Mills Reuben Mills, colored man who has been missing since he went squirrel hunting early Friday morning is being sought by 86 men from the CCC camp from Greer, S'. C. The sheriff’s office of Green ville county and a number of local citizens have joined the search from time to time. It is thought that Mills probably died of heart failure or could have been shot accidentally. He went into the mountains alone without even a dog. Gar Owner Located The owner of the car pulled out of Lake Lanier on Slunday morn ing is Mass Adkins of Greer, S. C., who states that the car was stolen from his sometime on Saturday in Greer. Officers are still investigat ing the case AAA Committeemen For Tryon, Saluda and Columbus townships will be elected Wednes da v afternoon at 2:30 at the Court house in Columbus. All farmers are eligible voters and should attend. Hospital Notes The Trustees wish to make grateful acknowledgement of a gift to the operating room of a rubber pad for the operating table given by Mrs. Dudley C. Smith, Jr.; a number of books from the Lanier Library; and a hospital bed for loaning to special cases for home use at the request of the physician, given by Mr. Charles Sewall.
