CURB REPORTER La Rochefoucauld said, “It is not enough to have great qualities, one must make good use of them.” You have heard of things being dirt cheap or free as air, but Bill Jackson gets “cheap ’ dirt and fills it with “free” air and sells it at a good price. That sounds strange, but he really digs vermiculite, a mica-like dirt out of the ground near Hogback Mt., and then heats it so not over a flame that it explodes into tiny balls like puffed wheat; then he puts it in big red, white and blue sacks and hauls it all over town and to neighboring cities to people build ing homes, theatres, apartment houses, etc. They use it for in in winter and cool in summer. Be sulation to keep the buildingg warm ing dirt filled with air it is fire proof. So when you see Bill Jackson or Jim Keine driving in to town looking like gypsies with all those colored bags, just re member they don’t have such a heavy load, for you can pick up one of those big sacks with your left hand and toss it around like cotton .... Work on the new theatre is going forward nicely, the plastering is all done, decorations are being put up, the floors are . being sanded and it looks as if everything will be ready in a few more weeks Forest City is planning for a big Armistice Day celebration on Friday, Ex- Gov. Max Gardner, Senator Rey nolds and Congressman Weaver are on the program which begins at 10 o’clock .... Rector’s Dry Cleaners invite the public to see their new plant .... Remember the cooking school beginning on Wednesday morning Nov. 16th.
