TRYON, N, C., SATURDAY, NOV. 12, 1908 Home Economics Honor Players Thursday night the home econo mics classes of the Tryon high school gave a dinner in honor of the football players. When the boys arrived the v found the home economics room transformed into a festive scene. Tables were ar ranged in the form of a “T” with the color scheme yellow, green, and white being carried out with ivy and yellow and white chry santhemums. White candles mark ed the head of the table and they were flanked on each side by white chrysanthemums. Yellow crepe paper was placed down the center of the tables and white individual mats were used. At the intervals were yellow chrysanthemums and ivy was between them. The menu consisted of a: Grapefruit cocktail; chicken a la king; hot rolls; potato souffle; green beans; fruit salad; angel food cake; whipped cream and nuts; coffee and mints. This was served by Mar v Gaze, EVelyn McClure, Margaret Ballew, Doris McClure and Evelyn Tay lor-Tanner. After dinner a few words of appreciation and praise were spoken b T7 - Messrs. Caldwell, Sbhilletter, MicGeachy and Vining. Henry McGeachy, as acting cap tain, thanked the coach and the men of the team for their services. Just from reading this account you would think that these were the onl v girls who took part in this affair but the entire second year class aided in the preparation of the food.
