DAVIS—HINES Announcements have been receiv ed in Tryon of the engagement of Miss Cora Jane Davis of Green ville and Anderson to MV. John Allen Hines of Greenville, former ly of this county. The wedding will take place on December 7th. The bride-elect is the daughter of Mrs. John M. Davis of Anderson, S. C., and is prominent in business circles of Greenville, where she is on the staff of a financial institu tion. MV. Hines is a native of Green Creek and was formerly in business in Columbus. He is well known throughout this section, be ing in the automobile business in Greenville. A number of parties for the bride-elect are being held Greenville and Anderson. ™ HANKSGIVING ITEMS The Personal Service Committee of the W. Mi. XT. of the First Bap tist church will carry a basket of fruit and candy to the inmates of the countv home. This has been a custom of this ehuich for 25 vears Mrs. 11. L. Atiedge is in charge of the committee. George A. Cathey returned Tues day from deer hunting in the mountains and brought back a buck. . The meeting of the Baptist Business Women’s Circle has been postponed to Thursday, December Ist, at the home of Mrs. N. L. Wilson. TRYON, N. A young man, giving his name as Jimmy Duncan, a graduate of Tryon high school, has been sob ering subscriptions for magazines. No person by that name was ever graduated from Tryon school. If he calls at your door, please phone Police Chief Kiser. The subscrip tions may be all right, even though solicited under false pretense. The Lanier library will not be open on Thanksgiving Day.
