Eat. 1-31-28 New Building For Graft School 0) The atractive little building be ing completed on the hillside op posite the Methodist church is for the Tryon Craft School where Miss Vance and Miss Yale will teach their classes in art and wood carving. The new building will be in harmony with the design of the nearby Toy Shop sales room which has received distinguished visitors from all over the world. For the past year or more classes have been held in the attic of the Vance-Yale home where they not only have been learning to do things but have also observed the beautiful handcarved work of their teachers and talented former pu . pils. This work is seen in the carving on the mantels, chairs, tables, stairs, cabinets, and all through the house something in spiring to spur them on to achieve- Thanks to a kind friend Wtio donated the building the pupils will have a better workshop end their teachers won’t have to climb stairs to the attic. Funeral Services for Crocker Infant Funeral services for Marv Ann, rix-weeks-old daughter of Mr. and MVs. Itewis Crocker, who died suddenly Wednesday night, were held Thursday at 2 p. m., at Mt. Sflnai Baptist church on Landrum Route One. Rev. Grady Wyatt of Chesnee, S. C., and the Pastor Rev. Tom Wood officiated. Inter ment was in the Landrum ceme tery. The parents survive. TRYON, N. C., FRIDAY, NOV. 26, 1938 Gifts, to the Hospital The Trustees of St. Luke’s hos pital wish to make grateful ac knowledgement of the following gifts and contributions: Mrs. Robert Limbert, an attrac tive slip cover for a chair in one of the private rooms; M/rs. Kil pin, $lO for the purchase of jams and jellies; Mrs. Clemsons, pillows and a mahogany lap desk; Mrs. Ferneding of Pine Crest Inn, SIOO for use in relation to the clinic: Mhjor Sharp, his own work and that of several laborers on the grounds of the Nurses’ Home; Mr. Kimberly, planting and work on Nurses’ Home and hospital grounds; The Hedges and High ways club of Garrison Baptist church (colored), linen bed spreads, Coverlets, bureau scarfs, napkins for use in the Colored Ward. These rooms are now as at tractive as any in the hospital. The Social Service Committee of the Missionary society of Erskine Memorial church, much needed plain sewing for the hospital on the part of its members; Mr Ers kine, a large framed oil painting for the waiting room, a scene, “Logging in the North Wood”, painted by Charles Abel Corwin, who was the brother of C. S. Cor win, formerly a resident of Tryon, and a well known artist in his day. Hunt Club Meets On Monday A meeting of the Tryon Riding & Hunt club will be held on Mon day evening at 8 o’clock at Sunny dale. All members and friends are invited.
