Est. 1-31-28 Lightner Rites On Friday -v'Funeral services for Clarence Lightner, 76, who passed •away on Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock at his home here, will be held on Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Church of the Holy Cross, (Episcopal). Services will be conducted by Bishop Frank Hale Touret, the Rev. C. P. Bur nett, and the rector, the Rev. Charles L. MicGavern. Interment will be in Try on cemetery by the side of his beloved wife who pass ed on in May of this year. .The pallbearers will be as fol lows: A. M. Law, Julian B. Hes ter, Major Bernard Sharp, Dr. A. J. Jervey, Senator F. P. Bacon, Siamuel A. Bingham. Those friends who desire to send flowers are requested to send them direct to the McFarland Funeral home instead of to the Lightner residence. "v The deceased is survived by the following children: Martha F. (Mrs. Daniel F. Boone) of Win ston-Salem, N. C.; Alice ML (Mrs. Ernest J. Hops) of New York City, Theodore Lightner of New York, and Dr. Clarence Mi Light ner of Durham, N. C. All the sons and daughters will come to Tryon for the funeral rites. Mr. Lightner was born on Janu ary 24, 1862, .at Binghampton, N. Y., the son of the Rev. Milton and Martha Hurley Lightner. He ob tained his education at the Uni versity of Michigan and was lic ensed to practice law in Michigan in 1888, and married Frances Mc- Graw of Detroit in 1892. Scriven Rites Planned for Today Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen Mobley Scriven, 91, widow of Wil liam J. Scriven and a member of a prominent Spartanburg family, will be conducted at 4 o’clock this afternoon at the residence of her son, Thomas E. Striven, at 75.3 East Main street, by the Rev. W. H. K. Pendleton, rector of the Church of the Advent, Episcopal. Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery. Active pallbearers will be B. C. Lankford, W. J. Scriven, 3rd, J. F. Scriven, B. W.
