an assault on the young woman,
put her out of his automobile, and
left her lying on the highway,
bruised and hurt. Another young
woman was allegedly with Steph
enson and Miss Sonner at the
time.
When the complaint was filed v
arrest and bail papers were issued*
for the defendant. He was taken
into custody and released under
bond.
Stephenson, now at his home in
Saluda, was formerly a catcher
with the Chicago Cubs and the
Philadelphia Phillies of the Na
tional league. His most recent
connection was with the Shreve
port (La.) club of the Texas
league. He is now a free agent.
