C., MiONDAY, FEB. 13, 1939 Old Tryoniles wishing to take a new drive should take a ride on the new road to the Hunting coun try from the Godshaw Hill en trance. Over the hill , you go dow.n past Pine Crest Inn stables and come out at Black Bottom where on the left Mrs. David Hedekin, popular equestrian, has a training ring with various types of fences for jumper/ horses. Here lessons are given to future members of the Tryon Hounds who have to take all kinds of jumps over fenc es, streams and ditches. Instead of having to ford Vaughn’s creek as in the past a steel bridge has been built across the stream near the Indian trails and stage coach troad -to the Block House. Across the creek to the right are beauti ful Si’ler Falls. Around the bend to the left is a pretty view of the Hunts'nger place. Another turn to the right and a new paroramic view of the mountains; new roads to hill tops of Col. Arthur Smith’s property and the development of of Julian Calhoun, all making at tractive new homesites. The road ends just before you reach the Block House crossroads . . . Fran ces de Villa Ball will give her final lecture on music at the Lanier library on Tuesday evening. Her talks accompanied by delightful illustrations on the piano have captivated all those who have heard. her. Just another of those good things that come to Tryon. Continued on Back Page Feagan Home Razed By Flames The home of O. T. Feagan in Columbus was burned to the ground in early hours of Staurday morning. The building, of frame construction, was located just back of the M ils apartment house, and was formerly occupied by B. Case, township constable. The Bulletin was not informed as to the pres ent occupants, or the probable cause of the fire. Masons Meet Tonight The Jeff L. Nelson Masonic Lodge will meet tonight at 8 o’clock at the lodge hall over Missildine’s. Kiwanis On Tuesday The Tryon Kiwanis club will hold its regular meeting on Tues day at 1 p. m., at Hotel Tryon. NARROW ESCAPE Mr. and Mrs. N. R. Rector have returned from a visit in Thomas ville, N. C. While enroute to Thomasville their car skidded on a wet road near Lincolnton and crashed into a tree. The car turn ed over and was completley de molished. Mr. and Mrs. Rector were pulled out of the wreck with out any serious injuries. So they bought a new car and continued their journey. According to Vatican authori ties the remains of Pope Pius XI will be buried Tuesday instead of Wednesday as planned. __ An esti mated 200,000 worshippers filed slowly past the bier on which the body of the Pope lay.
