Dr. George Farrand Taylor, pro- ! fessor of Biblical Literature at Converse college, urged the estab lishment of a normal training j course for all Sunday school teach- ! ers as a vital need to improve the j Sunday school work of the county { Sunday schools of all denomina- ! tions. The speaker suggested that ! the normal could last for about j ten' Tuesday evenings conducting j classes for teachers in each depart- j ment of the Sunday gchool, to be ! followed by a lecture on the Bible ; after each class session. Plans J were discussed for conducting such teachers training school during the coming summer or early in the fall. s'jk A large crowd, including many v Obut-of-town, were present at the ■meeting and showed interest in the proposed training course. Dr. Taylor organized and for several years conducted successfully the Tryon Boys club during the sum mer months. He Is a member of the Executive Board of the Pied- i mont Council of Boy Scouts and is | Field Commissioner of the Polk j County District. He has visited | every part of the county making j addresses at schools and churches j and is deeply interested in the character building organizations of the different communities. Following Dr. Taylor’s address the hostesses for the Scial Com — Continued On Back Pane Large Crowd Attends Scout Honor Court A large crowd turned out to re view the examinations of the Polk County Boy Scout Court of Honor on Monday evening at the Parish House. The Court opened with prayer by Rev. B. G. Henry. This was followed with the repeating of the Stout oath led by Scout Executive R. Ml Schiele. Dr. C. Arthur Lincoln, the chairman, pre sided. Sitting on the Court with them were Rev. D. M. MicGeachy, Nelspn Jackson, Jr., W. A. Schil letter, M. B. Caldwell, F. P. Bacon, R. H. Brady, Dr. George F. Taylor. Following the Court of Honor beautiful motion pictures of Cen tral America taken by Mr. Schiele, were shown the audience. Stouts appearing before the Court for advancement were: Second Class rank: Dickey Ar thur, Roy Wright, troop 1. First Class rank: Tom Melton, troop No. 1. Merit Badges: Architecture, Hol land Brady, troop No. 1. Camping: Bill Lerby, George Cooksey, Frank McFarland, troop No. 1. Personal Health: Miarvin Ed wards, troop No. 1. Reading: Spurgeon Arledge, troop No. 1.. After the White Court a Negro Court was held and the following Scouts were up for advancement: Tenderfoot rank: Landis Wat son, James Payne, troop No. 2.
