C., THURSDAY, MAR. 2, 19.9 Dog Show Postponed To March 11th Largest Shipment of Poultry In History The Cooperation Poultry Ship ment last Monday was the largest in the history of this work. Over 6,000 pounds were hauled out of the county at two truck loads. This put around $850.00 cash in the pockets. Over 5,500 pounds of this amount was fine heavy hens. One more shipment will be made if prices hold up. Tryon Sport News In the sport activities of the Tryon high school yesterday, the hoys lost out to the strong Swan nanoa basketball team in the Blue Ridge Conference toumamnent at Hendersonville. The Tryon team •as forced to play two hard games [thin sixteen hours and could >t cope with the height and play of their opponents. In the Western North Carolina Boxing tournament, also held at Hendersonville, Tryon had two fighters competing, and placed one man in the semi-finals when Frank Wall whipped Correll of Flat Rock. Wall going into the bout with a nine pound disadvantage won over his heavier opponent by superior fighting and floor work. Wall will fight again this afternoon. In the feature bout of the night, Emerson Edney of Tryon, dropped a close decision to Lockwood of Blue Ridge, both boxers fighting Continued on back page • Lefty Flynn To Manage 'Big Canine Event. . Tryon’s Eighth Annual, Any and All Dog Show presenting the com munity’s prized pets, including some of the nation’s best from standpoint of quality, ? breeding, looks, etc., as well as' the little boy’s stray hound or mutt of 57 varieties, will be shown at Har mon Field on Saturday, March 11, beginning at 2 p. m., under the management of M. B. "Lefty” Flynn. The show date was chang > ed to March 11th on of the weather. Entry blanks will be printed this week and may be se cured on Monday at Missildice’s Pharmacy. There will be all sorts of classes giving the lowly pup as big a chance to win a prize as -ne one whose ancestors came over on the Mayflower. There will be such classes as the cleverest dog, tail wagginest dog. shortest tail, cos tume, personality and other class es to be invented by the director and his advisors. Gordon Furr, general manager of the Adams-Millis corporation entertained the High Point plant’s basketball team at dinner on Wed nesday night at Hotel Tryon. They were enroute to Greenville, S. C., to play in the Southern Textile Basketball tournament. Those on the team are Lei an Cooper, Enoch Cooper, Dolen Hedrick, J. C. Spencer, Claude Wright, C. W.
