C., SATURDAY, MJAR. 4, 1939 CURB REPORTER Another day in .Miami and Miami Beach, beautiful homes, tropical gardens, lighted causeways, wealth, luxury, places of enter tainment, hundreds of boats, a warm climate. Here we looked up Capt. Morris A. Bryan of Coconut Grove, where he and Mrs. Bryan have a lovely home. The Bryans often ' visit the Perry Manvilles here and are well known in Tryon. Capt. Bryan is a State Officer of the American Legion. At his home we saw our first solar "heating system where water is heated b y the rays of the sun and stored in an insulated tank. Capt. Bryan kindly showed us over much of the city. Beautiful Coral Gables, the Country club, the million dollar gate, Venetian swimming pool, kMiami University, casinos, bar 'rooms, Jack Dempsey’s place aad one of the most beautiful places in the world—the Hialeah Race Track, lined with miles of Aus tralian pines in hedge style, beau tiful flowers in bloom—lakes dot ted with colorful flamingoes; thou sands of poeple betting on the horses, oblivious to the beauty of the place. • We had supper at a case right on the water front and saw a big steam ship depart— hundreds of lights reflecting on the water as she pulled out.
