C., TUESDAY, MARCH 7, 1939 CURB REPORTER Arriving in St. Petersburg we located a dormitory room in a nice tourist home which was filled up and we had to go through the odining0 dining room and kitchen to get to our room from the inside. It Sidn’t seem bad. There was a sort of fellowship and comrade ship about it. The newest and nicest cafeteria there was adver tising breakfasts for 9c. We visit ed the N. B. Jacksons, of Tryon. They had a lovely home and Mrs. Jackson, expecting us had kindly saved several days issues of the Bulletin. (On the way down the second day out, we read Sat urday’s Bulletin on Sunday at Dr. Juniper’s in Ormand.) N. B. Jack son is the head of a big ice manu facturing concern there. He kind ly took time off to show us over the city, the municipal docks, beautiful homes, and drives. Tryon and Polk county have contributed a number of citizens to the St. Petersburg area. Jack showed us a lake that was made by Ben Boone this county, who dredged a wamp, made a lake and sold the land around it for a fortune. Hood Harney, Baynards, Lewises, Gibbs, Jacksons, and many others. We saw the E. H. Tomlinson training school building named in honor of a former Tryonite •frho gave so much to that section. Sorry we couldn’t stay longer. We crossed the long Gandy bridge that cost millions of dollars, and in Tampa but stayed only a few min utes. We had lunch in the Spanish Columbia Case at nearby Ybor City an old Spanish village.
