March: 12: 1939 Dear Mr. Vining— In The wedding of Miss Virginia Ifcraham and Mr. Antony (No H!) Thesiger took place last Thursday, March 9th, at 2:30 p. m., in St. George’s Church, Hanover Square, ! London. The bride looked lovely in a dress of white slipper satin with a wreath of white velvet ivy leaves on her head over a very full and billowy tulle veil. She car- j ried a shower bouquet of white j camelleas. She was followed up the aisle by four little girls and five small boys. The girls \wore long sleeved yellow organdie dress es with full skirts to their ankles. White chiffon ruffles edged the necks and finished off the sleeves at the wrists. Deep misty blue moire ribbon made the wide sashes and a narrow version of the same colour was tied around the head of each little girl. They carried ■tfat Victorian bunches of yellow The boys were in ribbed ~ silk of the same yellow—suits of the Kate Greenaway period. So much for the clothes. It was a fine sunny day arid the church was full of friends wearing new spring hats. They were a gay collection and the gen eral effect in St. Georges was very colourful. The flowers at the altar rails were arranged by the famous Mrs. Spry; two great bowls full of mixed yellow and white flowers— lilacs, forsythia, roses, daffodils, carnations, narcissi, tulips. We sang “Ye Watchers and Ye Holy Ones”; “The King of Love My Shepherd Is” and the choir sang Continued on back page TRYON. ISt C., FRIDAY, Mixed Foursome Results The two-ball mixed foursome golf tournament held at the Try on Country club on Thursday af ternoon was the most successful I event of its kind ever held in Try on. Sixteen teams participated. First place honors resulted in a tie between Mrs. Baxter Haynes of Tryon and Reginald Winn of London, England, and Mrs. Jeffer j son Coe of Worcester, Mass., and jH. H. Parmelee of Tryon and Boothbay, Maine. The score was 48. Third place went to Mrs. Bryant W. Donaldson of Detroit and F. P. Bacon of Tryon with a score of 49. The house committee headed by Mrs. Junius Judson, served tea during the afternoon to about 80 players and guests. The club rooms were very attractively decorated for the occasion. * * * * Flag Tournament On Week-End A Flag tournament for both men and women will be held on Satur day and Sunday. Play will be 18 holes with handicap added to par. Visitors are requested to register their home club handicap with Pro Larry Brooks. Two strokes will be added to each player’s last season handicap. Prizes for first, sec ond and third places. Nine holes may be played on Saturday and nine on Sunday, if desired. * «- Visitors to Tryon may have the Tryon Daily Bulletin delivered to them by mail or carrier every day for 5 cents a week.
