Miss Ruth Lincoln, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. C. Arthur Lincoln, and a senior at Randolph-Macon college, gave a private piano reci tal for a number of friends at the Lanier library on Friday evening. Miss Lincoln is majoring in music and will be graduated this sum mer. The hearty applause of the audience of music lovers attested to their appreciation of a splendid performance. Punch and cakes were served following the recital. Mrs. Willis Parsons and Mass Susan Harper poured and they were assisted by Mliss Lincoln’s classmate, Miss Betty Harris, of Rye, N. Y., and a friend. Miss Joyce Blaikie, of Englewood, N. J., student at Vassar. Mrs. Brand Whitlock is visiting in Charleston. Mrs. James Booth and Mrs. Sib ley of Detroit have taken an apart ment at the Auberge. Mrs. J. H. Rion has returned from a visit to Charleston gardens. Mrs. S. C. Sperry of New Hav en, Conn., is the guest of Miss Helen Roberts. Mrs. Margaret Culkin Banning and daughter, Miss Mary Banning, will arrive at their Tryon home, Friendly Hills, during the weekend. Countess de Beughen is visiting in Charleston. Miss Edna Calvert, superinten dent of St. Luke’s hospital, is in Charleston for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Lewallen will spend the weekend in Char leston.
