1939 COTTON YIELD
The County Committee have re
ceived the average cotton yield for
Polk county for 1939. Last year
our average yield per acre was
289, but this year the yield for
the county was cut to 284, or a
reduction of five pounds per acre.
The yields have been adjusted
for all farms in the county to
comply with the new average yield.
The local committee, sitting with
the County Committee, have gone
' over the yield for each farm in
the county very carefully. They
have tried to adjust the yield so
as to give every farm its fair
share of the county allotment.
Within a few days, fanners will
be notified to meet their committee
and sign up for 1939 and at i&l*
time the farmers will be given
a paper showing what his cotton
allotment is and what is the soil
building allowance for his farm.
This committee will also help the
farmer work out on paper the beat
method of earning the soil build
ing allowance.
Rev. Fisher and his troupe of
singers of St. John's church,
Rutherfordton, will present a pro
gram and play at St. Luke's C.
M. E. church on Thursday night
at 8:30. All white friends invited.
