Country Day School
Gives Out-Door Play
The pupils of the Tryon Coun
try Day school gave an outdoor
play in 'two acts, entitled,
‘Rumpelstiltzkin” Friday after
noon on the school grounds. An
appreciative audience of parents
and friends applauded the songs
and colorful costumes. The cast
of characters follows:

Dr. Henry Jackson
News has been received in Tryon
of the death of Dr. Henry Jackson
of Ridgefields, Conn., on Thurs
day. Dr. Jackson was a frequent
visitor here as a guest of Mr.
and Mrs. R. T. Brooks.

of the four delegates to represent
North- Carolina at the National
4-H club convention in Washing
ton. Miss Egerton has been an
active 4-H club Jeader for the
past six years.
Julian Hester Wins
First Match In Tennis
Friday afternoon Julian Hester
defeated Dr. John Preston in a
close, hard fought match by the
scores of 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the tennis
Singles Tournament at the Coun
try club. Preston who hits a verv
hard baP was wild through lack
of practice but made it plenty
difficult for the former champion.
Doubles play will begin Saturday
afternoon. The draw which has
been augmented by two new names,
Tom Hilton and M,. B. Caldwell,
is posted at the Country club.
