Est 1-31-28 Continued Progress The thriftiness of the communi jAvty and the gradual financial ■.wjgrowth of local investors are shown ' by the report of the Tryon Federal Savings & Loan Association pub lished in today’s issue of the Bulletin. In January of this year the total resources of this institu tion were listed at $160,000. In February $161,000; March $167,- 000; and today’s report for April it is $183,712.71. These assets are all protected by Federal in surance up to 58,000 for each in vestor. The savings are used en tirely to help those who want to own their own homes and also to guarantee a safe investment with the highest earning power for those people desiring to save. F. P. Baseball Saturday Tryon’s Adams-Millis baseball team will play Beaumont at Har mon Field on Saturday afternoon at 3:30. Heavy hitting has fea tured the games olayed this sea son by the Carolina League and fans may expect some excitement on Saturday. Brown at Rotary Judge Thomas E. Brown will be the chief speaker at the Tryon Rotary club meeting on Friday at 1 p. m., at Sunnydale Log Cabin. His subject will be “In Defense of Lawyers.” TRYON, N. C., THURSDAY, MAY 4, 1939 CURB REPORTER Count Giovanni Cardelli of Great Barrington, Mass., who visited the James R. Trowbridges on Wednes day stopped in Asheville to see the champion airedale puppies that he had sold the Trowbridges and Mrs. G. Calhoun. The dogs were at Dr. Shuford’s animal hospital who diagnosed their trouble as ton silitis due to exposure on. their trip south. Count Cardelli who is president of the American Airedale Association said that 'Tryon dog lovers are lucky to have such a good veterinarian as Dr. Shuford nearby .... According to an old saying this is blackberry blossom weather. It always turns cold dur ing the blackberry blossom time. The picnickers to Pearson’s Falls had a grand time on Wednesday. The glen is very beautiful at this time and some new trails just opened added interest to those who have been to the falls before .... Another eroup of picnickers are at Skvuka MJountain today. The air, scenery, etc., were never better for hikes and outings . . . . C. J. Lynch has offered an attractive two-acre strip of land to the Girl Scouts of Tryon for a camp site and cabin . . . W. H.
