Perry Manville, president of the Tryon Chamber of Commerce, thanking the people of the com munity for their Courtesy and Co operation on the recent visit to Tryon of the young people in charge of the exhibit . . . This month’s Mic Call Magazine has an interesting article about Dr. Rolla Eugene Dyer’s scientific work in eradicating typhus fever. The noted scientist is a son of Rev. and Mrs. Rolla Dyer of Tryon. .... McGuinn, who operated a tinsmith shop on Trade street for several years and commuted to Hendersonville, died suddenly Tuesday afternoon about 5:30 while at work in the construction of a filling station on Main street in Hendersonville. Coroner J. F. Brooks of Henderson county ex pressed the belief that the deceas ed died of acute indigestion. Mr. McGuinn is survived by his wid ow and several children. Two Polk County Prisoners Released Governor Clyde R. Hoey paroled a number of prisoners this week according to news from Raleigh and two of the men were from Polk county: Those paroled in cluded: A. C. Smith, convicted in Polk county last year on charg es of assault with a deadly weop on and sentenced to serve 18 months on the roads. Ralph Ed wards, Polk county .assault with deadly weapon, six months on the roads. Episcopal Convention At Fletcher Members of the Church of the Holy Cross attending the Western North Carolina Diocese at Flet cher yesterday were the rector, the Rev. Chas. L. McGavern, Rev. C. P. Burnett, Dr. and Mrs. George Farrand Tavlor, Mr .and Mrs. F. P. Bacon, Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Parmelee and George H. Holmes. Fletcher, May 9. —An address bv the Rt. Rev. R. E. Gribbin, of Asheville, bishop of the diocese of Western North Carolina, featured the opening day’s session Tuesday of the two-day 17th annual con vention of the diocese at Calvary Episcopal church here. Bishop Gribbin began his ad dress by referring to the attractive setting of the grounds and the restored Calvary church which was rebuilt after a fire on Decem ber 22, 1935, and was consecrated last August 21.
