Interesting Program
At Rotary
James B. Hester presented the
Tryon Rotary club with an in
teresting program on Friday at 1
p. m., at Sunnydale Log Cabin.
Scout Executive R. Ml Schiele
brought a number of talented boys
from the Piedmont Council Camp.
One of them gave an interesting
talk on snakes and during his
talk held twining around his arm
a four and a half foot black
snake. Another Scout gave a talk
on “Mlodel Airplane Building” and
demonstrated a model he had made
himself. It was powered with a
small gasoline motor. Two other
Scouts, Ernest and Miles Mauney,
the twin musicians of Kings
Mjountain, who have been winning
state and district contests, gave
two piano numbers, one by Chopin
and the other by List. The hearty
applause showed the club’s appre
ciation of the marvelous technique
of these two Eagle Scouts.
After the program retiring
president Julian B. Hester, ex
pressed his appreciation to the
members for helping to make the
past year one of the best 'in the
history of the local club. Mr.
Hester was then presented the
past president’s pin and jewel as
a token of their appreciation of
his services.
The new officers are E. Perry
Manville, president; Rev. B. G.
Henry, vice-president; E. M. Arm
field, sceretary-treasurer.
