New Night Policeman Archie Burrell, graduate of the 0935 Tryon high school and a star chool athlete, was elected Tryon night policeman by the Town Board at its regular meeting at the Town Hall on Thursday eve ning. Burrell is six feet and one inch tall. He served in the United States Army for several years and did police duty at the Panama Canal Zone. Burrell succeeds Amos Foster, who is now in train ing at Flat Bock for service in the State Highway Patrol. Softball Today The Boys club and Kilowatters will play softball this afternoon at 6:30 at Harmon Field. Ad mission free. Baseball Saturday Adams-Millis and Converse Mills play regular baseball at Har- V rJhion Field on Saturday afternoon V -Tit 3:30 o’clock. INSURANCE EXCHANGE IS ORGANIZED The Polk County Insurance Ex change was organized last-evening at the office of E. Perry Mlanville and the following officers were elected: President, L. L. Clippard of Saluda; vice-president, J. B. Hester, Sr., of Tryon; secretary, . E. Perry Mlanville, Tryon; treas urer. G. H. Holmes, Tryon. Also at this meeting were Dr. W. E. Sawyer, who has recently been appointed superintendent of the schools in Polk county, R. H. Brady of Tryon and M* T. Wilson of the Travelers Insurance Com pany of the Charlotte office. Wilfrid Zogbaum, son of Capt. and Mrs. Rufus, is doing the decorative and map painting for the s*riss gov ernment pavillion at the World’s Fair .... Charles G. Sewall, the minuter at Christmas Cove, Maine, notes what the Walter Howells have to say about the WeaUe’- and says “TVy are cor rect!
