Avant Sells Stoker Avant Electric Co., announces in todav’s Bulletin the annm'nt ment as dealer of the new Delco- General Motors Automatic Stoker. Sells 60 Dresses The Ballenger-Jackson Co., ad vertised in Saturday’s Bulletin re ducing ladies’ dresses to half price. The response from the pub lic was so great that 60 dresses were sold. The advertisement is being run again today. TRYON, N. C., MONDAY, JULY 17, 1939 Saluda Baby Hospital Needs Are Cited Women members of the board of directors were asked to assist in beautifying the grounds. The need for added facilities to properly carry on the work was cited. Dr. Pendleton presided at a meeting which was held on the hospital lawn. Among the facilities most needed at the hospital is a new home for nurses. He explained that a small cottage being used at pres ent is inadequate. In the event that such a home is secured the present cottage would be converted into a convalescent ward for babies. Dr. Lesesne Smith, hospital phy sician. described soma of the cases that have been treated at the hos pital and described the training course for doctors in pediatrics held each summer. He explained that 100 physicians have already registered for the training course which opens the latter part of July. Physicians from as far away as the state of California have at tended the course at the hospita l . Because of the widespread interest in the course, the government sends a doctor each year to attend the classes. Mrs. Sam Burts, a member of the board, cited the need of a clinic for “follow-upâ€~ work for tin babies after they are dismissed from the hospital. Such a clinic, she explained, would be used as a dispensary for milk for the un derprivileged children after they return to their homes.
