Est. 1-31-28 Try on Boy Scouts Now In Camp Twenty memebers of Troop No. One of the Tryon Boy Scouts left this morning for a week’s stay at the Piedmont Boy Stout camp on Lake Lanier. They will be in charge of Assistant Scoutmaster Nelson Jackson. 111, and Scout master W. A. SchiDetter. Those attending camp are as follows: Dickie Arthur, Bobbie Dick, Harrison Bridgeman, Burrell By ers, Bill Derby, Charles Ford, Jim my Baker, George Cooksey, Ma rion Edwards, Lock MeGeachy, Jim my Jackson, Paul Butler, Phill Morris,' Tom Mplton, Seth Vining, Frank McFarland, Harold Tay lor, Nelson Jackson 111, Bob An drews, and Bob Burly. OXFORD ORPHANAGE Ringing class The Oxford Orphanage Singing Class will be in Tryon on Monday, August 21st, to give a concert hare made tremendous strides in the quality of the program they offer now, the singing, the cos tumes, tile stage settings and the acting hare an been immeasurably improved since the class started their annual tours more fifty years ago. There are two children from Tryon in the care of the Orphan age, one of whom it is reported is with the Singing Class this rear and we also understand is the hit of the show. C., MONDAY, AUGUST 7, 1939 Game Postponed The softball game scheduled this afternoon between Ballew Grocery and the Boys Club has been post poned on account of so many mem bers of the Boys club attending the Boy Scout Camp at Lake Lan ier this week. The game between Ball-the-Jack and Landrum Ter rors will be played at Harmon Field instead of the School ground as previously planned. No Kiwanis Tuesday The Tryon Kiwanis club will not meet Tuesday on account of the inter-club meeting to be held at Oak Hall Hotel on Thursday evening at 7:15 at which time Rutherfordton, Hendersonville and Greer clubs will join with the local club in an interesting program ar ranged under direction of program Chairman B. B. Bishop, Jr. and Dr. C. Arthur Lincoln, chairman of the Inter-Club Relations. Ruth erfordton has already announced that its five minute stunt will be put on by Prof. W. B. Roberson. Miss Heath To Speak To Baptist Ladies “Missionary Work in the Orient” will be the subject of Miss Vir ginia Heath at the regular meet ing of the Missionary society of the First Baptist church on Tues day at 4 p. m. at the home of Mrs. H.
