C., WEDNESDAY, AUG. 9, 1939 Miss Missildine Is Wed To Mr. Collum | The Erskine Memorial Congre gational church and the Sunday school rooms were filled to over liow.ng with hundreds of friends on Tuesday evening when Miss Edith Missildine, a member of the church choir and a teacher in the buiiday school, became the bride of Mr. Thomas Henry Collum. The attractive vine covered rock rhurch was beautifully decorated in the interior with white gladioli, and white hydrangeas against h> C'ground of dark green ivy, and lighted candles on two large can delbras. It was a brilliant event. Mrs. John R. Ferguson of Spartan burg played the wedding music. Following the bridesmaids, ushers and matron of honor the bride entered the church on the arm of her father as the organ played the wedding march. She was beauti . fully attired in a white satin gown I cut on princess lines with long sleeves and round collar. The dress buttoned down the back to the waist. The short train was of satin and lace. Her veil was of white illusion with a wreath of orange blossoms. The bouquet was white gladioli with baby’s bi' and tube rose streamers. The groom and his best man, Mr. James B. Andrews, awaited the bride at the altar. The impres sive ring ceremony was performed by the bride’s pastor, Dr. C. Ar thur TJncoln. The matron of hon or, sister of the bride, was Mrs. Willard C. Thayer, of Alton, 111. She wore a dress of rose pink net over taffeta, with short puffed sleeves and a full skirt, trimmed Continued on Page Three Tournament Results The semi-final round champion ship results at the Tryon Country club are as follows: First flight— Earl Rion won from Marion Pal mer 2 and 1; Edward Siayre won from Bert Ar ledge 4 and 3. Second flight—J. W. Taylor won from F. S Wilcox 4 and 3; (Bacon and Switzer to be played). Third flight—E. Rowe won from J. W. Marshall 2 up; (J. M. Baker and J. Rowe to be played). Consolation: First flight—Nel son Jackson, Jr., won from B. G. Henry 7 and 6; Baxter Haynes won from Tommy Marshall 7 and 6. Second flight-—J. Calhoun and B. Dobson to be played; Bob Adams won from C. H. Helms one up; third flight—K. A. Bowen won from Wlilliam Flentye by default! Robert Green won from J. R. Trow bridge 2 up. Fourth flight—Mar shall Ballew won from J. M. Bak er, Jr., 3'and 2; Jim Kinloch won from Doug Blois 3 and 2. Finals in all flights will be plaved this weekend. Earl Rion and Edward will play 36 holes for the championship; holes will be played Saturday af ternoon and 18 holes on Sund—r afternoon starting at 2:30. Both Rion and* Sayre shot 73 in tb r semi-final matches. So some rod hot golf will be on exhibition. / H flights except the championship will be for 18 holes.
