Morgan P. Bodie of the Forest City company has stated that the plant in Columbus would be used for storage only until such time as conditions warrant it being used as a manufacturing plant. Barnette. pother of Dr. Gould Mrs. Olivia Gould of Spartan burg, mother of Dr. Charles K. Gould, dentist of Landrum, was killed in an automobile collision on Sunday evening as she was riding with two other women in a car which collided with an auto mobile driven by Isaiah Johnson, a Negro. Johnson was lodged in the Spartanburg county jail pend ing an inquest today. The accident occured near the Spartanburg city limits on the new highway in front of the Cleveland Bible church where the three women had just attended services. Mrs. Gould -was prominent in social, religious and music circles. TRYON, N. C., MONDAY, AUG. 14, 1939 Tryon District Schools Open Monday, Sept. 4 The Tryon District Schools will open for the 1939 40 session on Monday, September 4th, at nine o’clock. Every thing is in readi ness for school to open and the faculty is looking forward to a successful year. There are several changes in the facuitv for the coming year. Miss Elizabeth Avant succeeds Mrs. Eunice Watson as teacher of the Third grade; Mrs. Watson succeeds Mrs. C. W. Kittrell in the First grade; Mrs. Kittrell takes the First and Second grades at Lynn. Miss Mary Betts of— will also teach Hie First grade at Try on. The vacancy created by the resignation of Kiss Betty Double fay as teacher of the Seventh Trade has not been filled, but ave*al applications are under consideration.
