C., TUESDAY, AUG. 15, 1 59 Tryon Girl Appears In Singing Class The Singing Class of the Masonic Orphanage at Oxford gave a won derful concert in Winston-Salem this year which was written up in the Wiston-Salem Journal as being greatly enjoyed by the large number of interested friends pres ent, and goes on to congratulate the Class upon this year's program. The Singing Classes of the Or phanage for more than fifty years have made annual tours of the State, each year bringing a new class with a new and up to date program, this year we will be pleased to welcome a Tryon girl who is with the class and the hit of the show, and in order to prop erly welcome this star performer in her own home town, children under twelve years of age accom panied by their parents, will be admitted free. Rotary Friday John G. Landrum, Jr., will be in charge of the Rotary club program on Friday at 1 p. m. atl Sunnydale X<og Cabin. The guest will be Dr. George Farrand Taylor and the title of his subject will be "Modern Education In Religion." August Is Grape Month! Oxford Singing Class single tickets for adults at 25c and half tickets for young people under 16 mav be obtained at Missildine's Pharmacy, Owens Pharmacy and Tryon Case; or general ad mission at the same prices at the doer on the night of the concert. SALUDA APPLE FESTIVAL SET Saluda, Aug. 14. —Saluda apple growers met at the city hall on Friday evening to complete details for the annual apple show to be held in Saluda in October. F. R. Snyder is general chairman of the sponsoring organization. Official opening will be Wed nesday, October 4, at 10 a. m. All exhibits must be in place by 5 p. m. on Tuesday, October 3.
